My First Crash
posted by at 19:40 on April 04, 2008
So I went out for a ride today with my boyfriend and we crashed. I wish there were a good story but there is not and so I would rather tell you how thankfull I am that my head was inside a Specialized S-works helmet. My Dad has always told me how important it is to wear a helmet and believe it or not I listened and after today I am so very thankful. It all happened so fast but after my head bounced off the pavement all I could think of was how safe my head fealt. I have always been so sure of wearing a helmet but so much from what my Dad has told me and not until today do I realize how much damage could have happened if my head were not within such a protective shell.
Sure I am upset over my damaged shoe, having to take both mine and my boyfriends bikes into the shop, the terrible rash over my boyfriends body, and the two helmets we now need to replace but really I am so thankfull for being able to get up, get back on my bike and pedal back home.
I have been riding a bike for many years without a crash, yet I still wore my helmet and after a day like today I hope you all continue to wear yours.
ps
make sure it fits correctly as well.

sorry to hear about the crash, but remember that bikes can be replaced and lives can"t.

So, you still have not shared details on how this crash happened...

I think the crash happened because Ana was chasing down a purse thief, who grabbed some elderly lady's handbag. Ana is such a super hero! We should all be thankful she's out there, looking over us, protecting us from evil doers, and taking a real bite out of crime.

My first crash, aside from the Sugar Free Rockstar wearing off, was last year during the Hy-Vee triathlon. I to am very glad my helmet was on otherwise it could have been much worse. The bike, that's a different story but I did manage to finish thanks to some Rasmussen crew members. Glad both you and your boyfriend are ok. And, Pudding makes everything better.

I think my first crash that did not involve being hit by a car was on the xXx ride. I went sliding on my hip and spanking new helmet! When I looked up, the Red Bull car was there and the whole team was sitting on the curb drinking Red Bull. It was weird...
I still had like 45 miles to ride home. Donny had my keys up in Wisconsin. I had to wake up Jeff from the Cuttin' Crew and peel bloody lycra out of skin in Jeff's bathroom before I built a nest in all the clothes on his bed and went to sleep. Moral of this long story? I don't have one.
I'm glad you're ok!
Smooches!
